Print Student and Staff ID Cards

Mosaic prints standard credit-card-size (CR80) ID cards for students and staff. Every card carries a barcode that scans anywhere the person’s barcode is already used. You can print a whole batch from People › ID Cards, or reprint a single card from a student’s or staff member’s record.

Required Access

ID Cards — Students

Default roles: Admissions, Office Staff, Academic Assistant

Printing student cards requires the ID Cards permission at the Students level. Printing staff cards as well requires the Students & staff level, which School Administrator, Division Principal, Human Resources and IT Support have by default.

  1. Go to People › ID Cards.

  2. Choose your options at the top of the page:

    OptionChoices
Print forStudents or Staff. Only shown if you can print both.
CardID card, with photo or Temporary, no photo.
Print onCardstock sheet, 8 per page or Card printer, 1 per card.
ExpiresThe date printed on the card. See Expiry dates.
  3. In the list below, narrow it down to the people you want. Use the filters (grade, division, staff category, Card status, New this year, Photo) or the search box. You can also paste a list of names or IDs into the search box to find them all at once.

  4. Click Print all N cards to print everyone the list shows. To print only some people, tick them and click Print N selected.

  5. Mosaic downloads a PDF. Open it and print it.

When someone loses their card, you don’t need to go to the batch page:

  • Student: open the student’s Profile tab, open the menu on the Student Details panel, and choose ID card.
  • Staff: open the staff member’s record, open the menu on the Contact panel, and choose ID card.

Pick the card type, what to print on, and the expiry date, then click Print. On a cardstock sheet this prints one card on an otherwise blank page.

  • Student cards must have an expiry date. Photo cards default to the last day of school.
  • Staff cards don’t need one. Leave the field blank for cards that don’t expire.
  • Temporary cards default to three months from today, for students and staff.

You can change the date before printing. Use the Card status filter (Never printed, Expired, Expires this school year, Current) to find people who need a new card.

School admins can change how the cards look with the Card design button on the ID Cards page. You can use the Mosaic design with your own colors, logo and tagline, or upload your own background artwork. Temporary cards use the same design, with “Temporary” and the expiry date where the photo would be.
